# Tips to fight negative thoughts
Learn the difference between worrying and constructive actions. Only action can solve problems. Worrying causes repetitive negative thoughts that go round and round in our minds. It's a vicious circle through which fears and anxiety amplify if we let them run wild.
Worrying doesn't help solve problems. It just makes those seem scarier than they really are.
The more we worry, the more we fear, the more we get anxious, the more we worry, ...
[[Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)]] can help fight against negative thoughts.
[[Say hello to what worries you, but don't stop to chat]]
The "Just Worrying" technique requires us to label our worries. Giving those a name and a description, and then focusing on our breathing or simply thinking about something else. Each time we find ourselves worrying, we have to label the worries again, and switch to a different topic (e.g., I'm worrying about the deadline tomorrow). We can repeat the process many times, it doesn't matter. What matters is to do it each time we realize that we are worrying.
That technique doesn't involve criticism or anger at ourselves. There's no judgement involved when we just label our thoughts. This technique aims to help with [[Cognitive defusion]]. Using this technique for a few days can make a big difference in your thought patterns.
The "Just Worrying" technique is also applicable to other sorts of spiraling thoughts such as "Just doubting", "Just criticizing", etc.
