# Garbage in, Garbage out (GIGO)
When inputs are poor, outputs are poor or plain wrong.
Alternative name/acronym: Rubbish in, rubbish out (RIRO). The expression was popular in the early days of computing.
This concept applies to many things and domains. In construction, using poor materials to build something leads to poor results. In audio processing, using a low quality source leads to low quality output. In IT, poor inputs lead to faulty outputs (or no outputs at all). Learning from poor quality sources leads to bad results. And we can find many more examples.
