# Agile Manifesto
The Agile Manifesto is a foundational document for agile software development, created in February 2001 by 17 software practitioners at a ski resort in Snowbird, Utah. It articulates four core values and twelve principles that prioritize flexibility, collaboration, and customer value over rigid processes.
The signatories included [[Kent Beck]], [[Martin Fowler]], [[Robert C. Martin]], [[Ward Cunningham]], and others who had been developing lightweight methodologies like [[Extreme Programming (XP)]], Scrum, and Crystal.
## The Four Values
> We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. Through this work we have come to value:
| Value | Over |
|-------|------|
| **Individuals and interactions** | Processes and tools |
| **Working software** | Comprehensive documentation |
| **Customer collaboration** | Contract negotiation |
| **Responding to change** | Following a plan |
> That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.
## The Twelve Principles
1. Customer satisfaction through early and continuous delivery
2. Welcome changing requirements, even late in development
3. Deliver working software frequently (weeks rather than months)
4. Business people and developers work together daily
5. Build projects around motivated individuals
6. Face-to-face conversation is the most efficient communication
7. Working software is the primary measure of progress
8. Sustainable development pace
9. Continuous attention to technical excellence
10. Simplicity; maximizing work not done
11. Self-organizing teams
12. Regular reflection and adjustment
