# Attentional process
The process of focusing our attention. It is composed of multiple steps:
- Orienting to the stimulus (e.g., a noise that we hear, something that moves in our field of view)
- Our brains decode what is happening all the time
- This happens at lightning speed
- Engaging with the information
- Our brains direct our attention to the stimulus
- Once our attention focuses on something, our brains start exploring memories and tries to correlate the current event with past events, try to recognize objects, sounds, etc
