# Better Backlinks plugin for Obsidian Better Backlinks is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by MrVersano that replaces the list of backlinks at the bottom of your notes. Each backlink becomes a card showing the **whole block** around the link: the section, the full list item with its children, or the property row. That block-level context is the main difference with the [[Backlinks core plugin for Obsidian|core Backlinks plugin]], which only shows the line containing the link (a bit more with "Show more context"). It matters most in vaults with many daily notes. Say a daily note contains a list item `Call with [[Joe]]` with four sub-bullets. Core backlinks show the line with the link; Better Backlinks shows the whole item with its sub-bullets. You read what happened without opening ten daily notes. What else it does: - Title matches: `2026-09-24 Meeting with Joe` shows up under `2026-09-24` - Unlinked mentions, each with a Link button - "Created on this day" and "Created this week" groups on daily and weekly notes. Those are off by default and rely on your `created` property. Turn them on if you like resurfacing old notes - Each card shows the number of links and the last modified date, and the sort order you pick for a note is remembered To set it up: - Turn off "Show backlinks at the bottom of notes" in the core Backlinks settings, or you'll get two lists - `Better Backlinks: Open sidebar` opens it in the sidebar instead, and `Toggle backlinks section` hides it - It reads the date format and folder of daily notes from the [[Daily notes core plugin for Obsidian|Daily notes core plugin]], and those of weekly notes from [[Periodic notes plugin for Obsidian|Periodic Notes]] when that plugin is enabled. If you use something else, set them in its "Daily notes" and "Weekly notes" settings Mobile is supported too.
