# Confirmation bias We all have a tendency to search for, favor, and recall information that confirms and reinforces our current thoughts, beliefs and hypotheses. The problem is that while doing so, we tend to disregard or reject sources that contradict or could invalidate our current views. Moreover, when we stumble upon contrarian views, it actually reinforces our point of view that those who think differently are wrong. To fight against this bias, we first need to identify the reasons why we are attracted to the information we consume. We need to turn our subconscious reasons into conscious ones, so that we can become more objective. [[Critical Thinking]] helps too. Then, we need to actually look for contrarian views instead of avoiding those.
