# Doomscroll plugin for Obsidian
Doomscroll is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by Oleg Yaroshevych that takes the social media feed and points it at your vault. You get a shuffled feed of cards built from random notes, attachments, web clips and quotes. Its author's reason for building it: "My vault became write-only."
It's designed for mobile: keep it in a pinned tab on your phone and scroll it during your commute, instead of someone else's feed. A few details make it better than pure randomness:
- a note can't come back within 30 minutes
- at most 20% of each batch comes from notes you've seen in the last 7 days
- you can filter by folder, tag or file name pattern (only your diary, or only your quotes, for example)
- the batch size goes from 5 to 50 cards, with optional infinite scrolling and a "back" button
There's no "mark as reviewed". It's [[Value of serendipity in UX design|serendipity by design]], not a review system. Scope it to your permanent notes or quotes rather than to your whole vault; that's where rediscovery pays off. And when an old note comes back, link it to what you're working on now.
It's a good replacement for the [[Smart random note plugin for Obsidian|Smart random note plugin]], which hasn't been updated since 2021. It hasn't been manually reviewed by Obsidian staff yet.
