# Dynamic Views plugin for Obsidian
Dynamic Views is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by churnish that adds grid and masonry card views to [[Obsidian Bases]]. Cards show thumbnails or cover images and text previews, and the view comes with two buttons: "Shuffle view" and "Open random file".
That second part is what I like most about it. Since it works on any Base, any filter becomes a way to resurface notes: shuffle a Base of book notes, of unfinished ideas or of notes you haven't touched in a year, and see what comes back. It's the modern replacement for the old Smart Random Note plugin (alongside the core [[Random note core plugin for Obsidian|Random note]] command).
To use it, open a `.base` file, add a view and pick the grid or masonry layout. Filters are normal Bases filters. It's still changing fast, so expect the occasional rough edge (and it hadn't been manually reviewed by the Obsidian team when I looked).
