# Focus on memorizing timeless information Our brains are imperfect. [[Many people forget or neglect to take notes]] while we know all too well that we forget a lot. Digital systems are perfect to store information reliably. We should avoid cluttering our minds with information that we can safely store elsewhere. Next to that, a lot of knowledge decays (sometimes very quickly: [[Law of staleness]]) and is really not worth memorizing. We should instead focus on memorizing timeless information such as first principles, and [[Mental Models (MoC)|Mental Models]]. Those are way more stable over time and have a much higher value.
