# Focus on solutions, not problems As the saying goes, [[Focus on problems, they grow. Focus on solutions, you grow]]. When we want progress, we need action. We need to focus on solutions rather than problems. Being solution-driven helps to focus energy on productive actions that can actually change the situation for the better. On the contrary, focusing on problems tend to make everything more complicated. When we focus on problems, it's way too easy to find more and more issues, more and more reasons to quit or not even bother trying. Of course, it's important to start projects with exploration and to build a clear understanding of the problem space. But as soon as the problem is clear enough, it's really important to switch to [[Problem Solving Algorithm]], thinking about ways to solve the problems at hand. When we get into problem-solving mode, we remove anxiety that focusing on problems introduces, and replace it with progress, which reinforces our confidence that we actually _will_ be able to solve those problems.
