# Folder Overview plugin for Obsidian Folder Overview is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by Lost Paul (lostpaul), the author of [[Folder note plugin for Obsidian|Folder notes]]. It renders an overview of your vault or of a folder through a code block. Put that block in a folder note and the note becomes an index of the folder's content. It's the same feature as the folder overview built into the Folder notes plugin, packaged on its own for people who only want that part. So: - If you already use Folder notes, you don't need it - It can't be used while the Folder notes plugin is enabled Alternatives for the same job: - [[Waypoint plugin for Obsidian|Waypoint]] turns a `%% Waypoint %%` marker into a linked table of contents of the folder and its subfolders, but it no longer gets new features - An [[Obsidian Bases|Obsidian Base]] filtered on the folder (`file.inFolder(this.file.folder)`) and embedded in the folder note gives you an index without any extra plugin ## References - Source code: https://github.com/lostpaul/obsidian-folder-overview - Community plugin page: https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=folder-overview - Documentation: https://lostpaul.github.io/obsidian-folder-notes/Folder%20overview/ ## Related - [[The Complete Guide to Obsidian Search - Find Any Note When You Need It (Article)]] - [[The Best Obsidian Plugins for Finding Notes (Article)]] - [[Folder note plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Waypoint plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Obsidian Bases]] - [[Map of Content (MoC)]] - [[Quick Explorer plugin for Obsidian]]
