# Grok Bot Grok Bot is [[xAI]]'s product for delegating real work to AI agents. xAI's own pitch: "your team of helpful AI teammates. You delegate real tasks to them and they carry the job through end to end, working autonomously around the clock inside the same tools you use." Not to be confused with [[Grok Build]], xAI's coding CLI, or with [[Grok]] itself (the model and chat assistant the Bots run on). A Bot keeps working after you close the laptop, and you talk to it like a colleague. The enterprise version came out on September 3, 2026. ## How it works You create one Bot per job. Each one runs on its own computer in the cloud and uses apps and websites the way you do (a computer-use agent, same family as [[Claude Computer use]]). You message it like a coworker, and it comes back when the job is done or when it needs a decision from you. To teach it a routine, you let it "follow along once" while you do the task. It saves the routine, takes corrections, then runs it on its own. A Bot that works well can be shared with colleagues as a template. Bots also message each other and share context, so one job can feed the next. ## The enterprise release (September 3, 2026) The announcement came from SpaceXAI (xAI's name since the SpaceX merger). It adds access, network and audit controls, which is what IT needs before rolling agents out to a whole company. The security model, in xAI's words: "A Bot has no access by default and reaches only the accounts you sign it into." Each user's work runs in its own isolated environment. At launch, Grok and [[Cursor]] Enterprise customers get it free for 2 weeks. They can invite the whole organization, including people without a seat, and turn it on from the admin dashboard. There's a desktop app (Linux included, nice to see!), plus a Marketplace, guides and a changelog. ## What companies use it for xAI says the heaviest use is outside engineering. The examples from the announcement: - Sales: watch a prospect's webinars and podcasts, then draft the LinkedIn message or email; update the deck live during a call - Recruiting: prospect overnight, build a shortlist, text candidates, fill scorecards from Gong call recordings - Marketing: pull the Q&A from a Zoom webinar, then send each account executive the relevant notes and draft replies in Slack - Finance: a procurement Bot that watches vendor spend and renewals (xAI quotes "tens of thousands" of dollars saved) - Engineering: watch pull requests for bugs, security findings, failing builds and merge conflicts; run audits overnight ## What I make of it The Cursor bundle is the commercial move to watch. SpaceX (merged with xAI) agreed to buy [[Anysphere]] in June 2026, and this free trial for every Cursor Enterprise customer is the first time I've seen that deal used as a distribution channel. Cursor sells to engineering orgs, while xAI says most Grok Bot users are NOT engineers. Cursor gets xAI in the door, then the invite-everyone button spreads it to sales, recruiting and finance. Grok Bot competes with [[Claude Cowork]], [[Claude Tag]] (Claude as a teammate in Slack), [[MiniMax Agent]], [[Manus]] and OpenAI's [[Dots (AI)|Dots]]. Those mostly expect you to write instructions or skills; Grok Bot learns by watching you do the task once. Outside engineering, showing a task is easier than writing it down, so if it works as advertised, that's a real edge. I'd watch the access model most closely. "No access by default" is the right default, but a Bot signed into your CRM, inbox and Slack holds a lot of standing access and runs unattended around the clock. That's where [[Human-in-the-Loop]] checkpoints and audit logs matter. ## Caveats - The adoption numbers come from xAI and can't be checked: "thousands of organizations" since launch (Legora, Supermicro and ServiceTitan are named), "millions" of Bots created in the past few weeks - The announcement doesn't give the original (pre-enterprise) launch date - The announcement says each Bot runs on its own computer, while The New Stack (October 3, 2026) described one shared cloud computer and set of logins per roster of Bots. One of the two is out of date or imprecise ## References - Grok Bot for Enterprise announcement (SpaceXAI, September 3, 2026): https://x.ai/news/grok-bot-for-enterprise - The New Stack comparison of always-on agents (Matt Burns, October 3, 2026), via [[Dots (AI)]] ## Related - [[Grok]] - [[xAI]] - [[Grok Build]] - [[Elon Musk]] - [[Cursor]] - [[Anysphere]] - [[Claude Cowork]] - [[Claude Tag]] - [[MiniMax Agent]] - [[Manus]] - [[Dots (AI)]] - [[Claude Computer use]] - [[Human-in-the-Loop]] - [[AI Agents]] - [[Gemini Spark]] - [[Cursor Automations]] - [[AI Agent Permissions]] - [[OpenClaw]] - [[Hermes Agent]] - [[2026-10-03 OpenAI Dots - always-on agents, with a memory you can't inspect]]
