# Hover Editor plugin for Obsidian
Hover Editor is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by nothingislost. It turns the hover popover of the [[Page preview core plugin for Obsidian|Page preview core plugin]] into a real editor: you can read AND edit the note you're hovering, without leaving the one you're on.
What you get:
- Popovers you can drag, resize and pin. Pinned popovers stay open, so you can have several at once
- A nav bar with the note title and editor controls; double-click the top handle to minimize a popover
- The popover takes focus, so shortcuts like `Ctrl+E` (switch mode) work in it
- A default mode setting: Reading, Editing, or match the current note
- Links to a heading or block open at the right spot
It's a nice companion for map and graph plugins: [[ExcaliBrain plugin for Obsidian|ExcaliBrain]] works best with it, since you preview notes from the map. PJ Eby (the author of [[Quick Explorer plugin for Obsidian|Quick Explorer]]) contributed a lot of its core.
Caveat: it relies on parts of Obsidian that aren't in the official API, so an Obsidian update can break it.
