# Hybrid Search plugin for Obsidian Hybrid Search is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by flowing-abyss that combines keyword search (BM25) with semantic vector search across your vault. The plugin is the interface; a separate command-line tool (`obsidian-hybrid-search`, installed globally with npm) runs in the background and handles indexing and search. Results update as you type and show a relevance score. The search box has modes like `sem:` and `title:`. With an empty query, it shows notes semantically similar to the one you have open (or your recent files if none is open). It also has a link discovery workbench for the current note, which compares the graph structure with semantic similarity: candidates for missing links, bridges between distant parts of your graph, similar notes and diagnostics. It's desktop only, and the separate CLI is extra setup that most plugins don't ask for. It hasn't been manually reviewed by Obsidian staff yet. See [[Semantic Search]] for the trade-offs of searching by meaning. ## References - Source code: https://github.com/flowing-abyss/obsidian-hybrid-search-plugin - Community plugin page: https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=hybrid-search ## Related - [[The Complete Guide to Obsidian Search - Find Any Note When You Need It (Article)]] - [[The Best Obsidian Plugins for Finding Notes (Article)]] - [[Semantic Search]] - [[Embeddings]] - [[Seek plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Similarity plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Smart Connections plugin for Obsidian]]
