# Index Checker plugin for Obsidian Index Checker, by pavlodeshko, makes sure your index notes (a.k.a. [[Map of Content (MoC)|Maps of Content]]) contain all the links they should. You tell it which files are indexes, with a naming pattern like `MOC` or `[FOLDER]` (the folder's name). Markdown notes and canvases both work. Then you choose which notes an index should link to: the files of the same folder, of the folder and its subfolders, or of subfolders that don't have their own index. It runs the check manually or each time the vault opens, adds the missing links to the index (or to a dedicated "missing links" file), and marks the affected files in the file explorer. It doesn't impose any structure on the index itself, which is nice. No update since 2025. Today, I'd rather use [[Waypoint plugin for Obsidian|Waypoint]], or a Base embedded in the folder note: a Base lists the notes of a folder on its own, so nothing goes missing in the first place. ## References - Source code: https://github.com/pavlodeshko/obsidian-index-checker - Community plugin page: https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=index-checker ## Related - [[The Complete Guide to Obsidian Search - Find Any Note When You Need It (Article)]] - [[The Best Obsidian Plugins for Finding Notes (Article)]] - [[Map of Content (MoC)]] - [[Waypoint plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Obsidian Bases]]
