# Literature notes
The concept of literature notes comes from the [[Zettelkasten method]].
Literature notes are notes you take while reading a book, article, or any other source of information. They are not "yours" in the sense that they're capturing ideas coming from others. They can be written using your own words or simply copied verbatim, it doesn't matter all that much. Their goal is to capture information and know that the information is not "yours". The distinction between literature notes and [[Permanent notes]] is mostly relevant for researchers and content creators, but might not be that useful otherwise. As a content creator and author, the distinction is very important to me. It helps me give credit where credit is due, and it helps me keep track of the sources of my ideas and knowledge.
