# Mythic GME Digital Mythic GME Digital is the officially licensed companion app for **Mythic Game Master Emulator 2nd Edition** (Mythic GME 2e), the book by Tana Pigeon, published by Word Mill Games. The app itself is built by Jason Holt Digital. Quick context first. Mythic GME lets you play a tabletop roleplaying game solo, or with a group that has no game master. Instead of asking a GM what happens, you ask the oracle a yes/no question. The **Fate Chart** gives you the answer based on how likely you think it is. The **Chaos Factor** tracks how out of control the story is, and **random events** throw in twists you didn't plan. The book does all of this with dice and tables. The app does the lookups and the bookkeeping for you, so you can stay in the story. ## Where it runs - **Windows**, through the Microsoft Store (I couldn't verify the Store price) - **Windows, macOS and Linux** on itch.io, since March 2025: a DRM-free desktop release (with an installer on Windows). It's a one-time purchase that includes all current features and free updates - **iOS and Android**, as a separate app called "Mythic GME Mobile" ## What's inside - The Fate Chart (it shifts with the Chaos Factor) and a more flexible Fate Check - Scene tracking, with Chaos Factor management - Adventure lists for threads and characters - Random events and meaning tables - A journal with autosave, exportable to JSON and Markdown - Custom tables and an Oracle Builder to create your own oracles - A dice roller that handles complex formulas: parentheses, rerolls, exploding dice, and import/export of saved formulas - Content from Mythic Variations and Mythic Magazine - Desktop layouts designed for a monitor and a keyboard, plus custom save locations - Accessibility options: screen reader support, text sizing, a colorblind mode and a left-handed mode - A Portuguese localization Version 1.5 focused on smarter random events, made Custom Tables and the Oracle Builder available in the itch.io builds, rebuilt the dice roller, and improved accessibility and desktop stability. ## Why the Markdown export matters A solo RPG session is basically a journal: you write down what you asked, what the oracle said, and what happened next. Since the app exports that journal to [[Markdown]], your play sessions can end up in an [[Obsidian]] vault next to the rest of your notes, instead of staying locked inside the app. That's the [[File over app principle]] applied to a hobby. The DRM-free itch.io build goes in the same direction (i.e., a copy you keep, no account check). If you play on a virtual tabletop rather than in a standalone app, the "mythic-gme-tools" module for Foundry VTT is an alternative. ## References - Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9n39b8hj3cdg - Word Mill Games (official app page): https://www.wordmillgames.com/mythic-gme-2e-app.html - itch.io (DRM-free desktop release): https://jasonholtdigital.itch.io/mythic-gme-digital - App Store (Mythic GME Mobile): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mythic-gme-mobile/id6726999147 - Foundry VTT module: https://foundryvtt.com/packages/mythic-gme-tools ## Related - [[Markdown]] - [[Obsidian]] - [[File over app principle]] - [[Data Ownership]] - [[Local-First Software]] - [[Journaling]]
