# Obsidian Community
The [Obsidian Community](https://community.obsidian.md/) is the official platform for discovering, evaluating, and tracking [[Obsidian Community Plugins|Obsidian plugins]] and themes. Announced on May 13, 2026, it replaced the previous manual submission process with automated scanning, developer dashboards, and a searchable directory.
## For Users
The community site makes it much easier to answer the question that matters most before installing any plugin: "is this safe and maintained?"
Every plugin now has a safety scorecard showing maintenance signals, update frequency, and risk indicators. Paid plugins and official plugins are clearly labeled. Category browsing and filters replace scrolling an undifferentiated list.
Upcoming additions include capability disclosures (exactly what permissions a plugin requests) and verified author badges.
## For Developers
Plugin authors get a dedicated dashboard to submit, manage, and track their projects. Every version is automatically scanned for security vulnerabilities and code quality issues. Malware detection runs on all submissions.
Compliance feedback is generated automatically. Authors see what needs fixing immediately after submission; no waiting for a manual reviewer.
A planned team feature will let organizations manage approved plugin lists and distribute private plugins internally.
## What Changed From the Old System
Previously, the Obsidian team manually reviewed every plugin submission. The backlog reached 2,300+ queued submissions. The new automated system cleared that backlog in days and removed the team from the critical path for standard submissions.
The team now focuses on what automation cannot do: auditing popular and high-risk plugins, improving the core product, and fixing issues that affect the entire user base.
