# PDF Plus plugin for Obsidian PDF++ is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by Ryota Ushio (ryotaushio) that makes PDF annotation feel native in Obsidian. Instead of storing highlights inside the PDF, it turns them into [[Markdown]] links: each highlight is a link to a text selection in the PDF. It doesn't index PDF text. What you search later is your notes *about* the PDF, which is often what you really want. Backlinks to a PDF can be filtered by page, and hovering a link syncs the PDF viewer with the [[Backlinks core plugin for Obsidian|Backlinks]] pane. Its author has gone quiet, though, so don't expect fixes. If you read PDFs in [[Readwise]] instead, the same principle applies: what you find later is your highlights and notes, exported as Markdown. (The note is titled "PDF Plus" because a `+` in a file name breaks [[Obsidian Publish]] URLs.) ## References - Source code: https://github.com/ryotaushio/obsidian-pdf-plus - Community plugin page: https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=pdf-plus ## Related - [[The Complete Guide to Obsidian Search - Find Any Note When You Need It (Article)]] - [[The Best Obsidian Plugins for Finding Notes (Article)]] - [[Readwise]] - [[Backlinks core plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Omnisearch plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Text extractor plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Obsidian Community Plugins]]
