# Periodic notes plugin for Obsidian Using the periodic notes plugin for Obsidian, you can easily create periodic notes (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly notes). You can associate a specific template with each periodicity (e.g. a template for daily notes, another for weekly notes, etc). This plugin is also well integrated with the [[Calendar plugin for Obsidian]]. When you click on a date in the calendar, it creates the corresponding daily note. With this plugin [[Journaling]] is much easier to do on a regular basis, and so are weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly [[Periodic reviews]]. It also supports defining specific configurations (where to store, which template to use, how to name the notes, etc): ![[Periodic notes plugin for Obsidian - configuration.png]] ## Maintenance status Checked on 2026-10-09: the last release is 0.0.17 (2022-04-14), and the last code change on GitHub dates from 2024-08-23. No new release in more than 12 months doesn't mean the plugin is broken. Many small plugins are simply done: they do one thing and keep working as long as Obsidian's APIs don't change. It's enabled in my own vault and still loads and works fine on Obsidian 1.14.4. Still, keep an eye on it after major Obsidian updates. If it ever stops working, alternatives include the [[Journal Bases plugin for Obsidian]], the calendar of the [[Notebook Navigator plugin for Obsidian]], or the Journals plugin. ## References - https://github.com/liamcain/obsidian-periodic-notes ## Related - [[Obsidian Starter Kit]]
