# Personal Knowledge Management is here to stay
Personal Knowledge Management is here to stay. We might need a better name, because the "management" part has very good chances of being automated using AI. But the core idea of capturing and developing your own ideas, and keeping those in a centralized location will remain highly valuable. Especially with more and more powerful AIs at our disposal. In the future, knowledge management apps will automate the boring parts (organization, filing, linking, tagging, etc), and will make it much easier to leverage your knowledge. Apps such as [[Voicenotes AI]] are a great step in that direction.
We need more advanced tools though. Tools that will not only make it a breeze to capture ideas, but also to research, curate, consume content, develop and share ideas.
Tools that will also support different modalities for doing all these things. For instance, capture using voice, then visualizing the connections on an infinite canvas, etc. And of course, going further, the ability to collaborate on knowledge graphs in a natural and efficient ways, through all those modalities.
IMHO, those who don't yet know about Knowledge Management are clearly missing out, especially if they're knowledge workers.
People who are always using "New chat" and going from scratch when using AI are deeply underusing the power at their disposal. Having a solid knowledge base heavily improves the way one can leverage AI.
