# Regex Replace plugin for Obsidian Regex Replace, by bongho, is a find and replace tool built around [[Regular Expressions (Regex)|regular expressions]]. It works in the current note, in a selection, or across the whole vault (or a single folder). What sets it apart: - A live before/after preview with match highlighting, before anything touches your notes - For vault-wide runs, you review the matches, pick the files, and can undo the whole run afterwards - Reusable multi-step "pipelines": save a cleanup recipe (e.g., for text pasted from PDFs or from an AI chat) and apply it in one go. It can import rulesets from the older Regex Pipeline plugin - Regex flags (`g`, `i`, `m`) and a history of your patterns Everything runs locally: no note content goes to external services. Obsidian staff haven't reviewed it manually yet. If you're new to regex, lean on the preview and start with small runs. And commit or back up first anyway. ## References - Source code: https://github.com/bongho/obsidian-regex-replace - Community plugin page: https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=regex-replace ## Related - [[The Complete Guide to Obsidian Search - Find Any Note When You Need It (Article)]] - [[The Best Obsidian Plugins for Finding Notes (Article)]] - [[Global Search and Replace plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Find-n-Replace plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Regular Expressions (Regex)]]
