# Resend MCP Server The Resend MCP server exposes [[Resend]] to AI agents through the [[Model Context Protocol (MCP)]]. Once it's connected, an agent like [[Claude Code]] can send an email, check why one bounced, add a contact to a segment or create a webhook, all from the conversation. ## Remote or local There are two ways to run it: - Remote, at `https://mcp.resend.com/mcp`. Nothing to install. You authenticate with OAuth in the browser, so no API key ends up in a config file - Local, with the `resend-mcp` npm package. It runs over stdio or HTTP and needs a Resend API key. For a headless setup over HTTP, the key goes in as a Bearer token Pick the remote server when you work interactively and have a browser at hand; it's the least setup and keeps keys out of your dotfiles. Pick the local one when there's no browser to complete OAuth (servers, CI, background agents) or when you want to control exactly which API key the agent uses. ## Installing it in Claude Code Resend ships as a plugin in the official Claude plugin marketplace: ```bash claude plugin install resend@claude-plugins-official ``` Then run `/mcp` in Claude Code, select `resend` and complete the OAuth flow. The plugin installs the MCP server AND all the [[Resend Agent Skills]], so Claude gets both the tools and the instructions on how to use them well. With the local server, give it a key with only the access the job needs.
