# Smart Related Notes plugin for Obsidian Smart Related Notes, by Saiki77, shows the notes closest in meaning to the one you're reading, as a stack of cards in the left sidebar. Despite the name, it's not from the [[Smart Connections plugin for Obsidian|Smart Connections]] author. It uses a small multilingual [[Embeddings|embedding]] model that runs on your machine: no cloud, no API key, no second app. After a one-time model download, it works offline. Because the model is multilingual, it matches notes across languages, which is useful if you write in more than one. It also takes your links into account in its ranking. An optional "reader" (off by default) uses a small local text model to write a one-line summary of each note and to suggest tags, picked only from the ones your vault already uses. Turning it on downloads a model of roughly 1 to 5 GB.
