# Social Psychology
Social psychology studies how people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by others—both real and imagined. Classic topics include conformity (Asch), obedience (Milgram), bystander effect, attitudes, persuasion, group dynamics, and social cognition. The field reveals how much of human behavior is shaped by social context rather than individual traits.
Key findings challenged intuitions: ordinary people obey authority to shocking degrees (Milgram), groups inhibit helping behavior, and we systematically misjudge others' mental states. The field faced the [[Replication Crisis]] hard—many famous effects (power poses, ego depletion) failed to replicate. Connects to [[Conformity Bias]], [[Groupthink]], and [[Behavioral Economics]].
## Classic Studies
| Study | Finding |
|-------|---------|
| Asch conformity | People conform to wrong answers |
| Milgram obedience | 65% obeyed to "lethal" shock |
| Bystander effect | More witnesses = less helping |
