# Stimulated attention Stimulated attention is when our attention is taken/stolen away from us, leading us to waste our time. For instance, when we receive phone notifications, we tend to take a look at those, which may lead us to check applications, and get into a totally different activity. This type of attention *steals* our time. We live in the [[Attention economy (MoC)|Attention Economy]], and our [[Time is a currency]]. That's why we must always pay attention (pun intended) and instead use [[Directed attention]]. We need to keep in mind that one of the main goals of modern marketing is to steal our attention, and influence us to buy products or services. ## Related - [[Attention types]] - [[Attention economy (MoC)]] ## References - [[Directed attention]] - [[Attention types]] - [[Time is a currency]]
