# The Paradox of choice
Concept popularized by psychologist [[Barry Schwartz]]
When there are too many options, it can lead to decision fatigue, anxiety, and lower satisfaction.
Worse than that. When you have too many choices, you have no choice. According to science, it's best to limit the set of possible choices to 5-7 (ideally 5) beyond that, the Paradox of choice (aka [[Choice overload]]) kicks in.
## Idea of [[Tiago Forte]]
[[The more options you have, the less likely you’ll choose any of them, and the less satisfied you'll be with your choice]]. Few understand this, but that paradox applies equally well to the content you consume, the notes you take, and the tasks you execute.
