# The agony behind writing Writing is not always relaxing. There's often agony in the process. Agony to find the right words, the right phrasing, the right synonyms. Agony to figure out how to introduce ideas, topics, scenes, characters. Agony to get started. Agony to continue. Agony to finish. Agony to proofread. Getting an article, essay or book to its final stages is hard. It's a tortuous process. But there's no way around the process. No shortcuts, no hacks. We have to get those ideas out of our heads and onto paper. Otherwise, there is no rest for the writer. The ideas float around like ghosts in our mind. Writing is the closest thing there is to giving birth. But it's rewarding. Incredibly rewarding. The moment when you decide that you are done is priceless. It's the last piece of agony; accepting that it will never be perfect. It will just be "good enough".
