# Time Timer A Time Timer is a visual countdown device that shows the passage of time. It makes it easy to understand how much time left there is. Time Timers have a simple interface with a disk that gradually disappears in a clockwise direction, as time counts down, making the abstract concept of time concrete and visible. ![[Time Timer image.png]] The Time Timer was created by [[Jan Rogers]] in the 1990s as a tool to help her daughter with autism better understand and manage time transitions. The device operates silently by default, eliminating the anxiety-inducing tick-tock sound of traditional timers, though it can provider an alert when time expires. Time Timers are used in various contexts: at school, in offices, during therapy, ... They're very effective for implementing techniques such as the [[Pomodoro technique]] and other time management approaches. ## Tips - Use a Time Timer to focus (cfr [[Pomodoro technique]]) - Start with shorter intervals and gradually increase the duration - Place the timer on the side, not right in front of you - Use the timer to remind you about transitions (e.g., x minutes before you have to stop an activity and do something else) ## Related - [[Pomodoro technique]] ## References - https://www.timetimer.com - https://www.timetimer.com/pages/our-story - https://www.timetimer.com/blogs/news/the-creation-of-time-timer-jan-s-story - Meet Jan Rogers: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLED09A8A5FCB806F0 - https://www.youtube.com/@timetimer
