Spent a ton of time on the first tweet of each thread - Aim for retweets, they drive virality - Ask yourself: why do people retweet? (To bookmark, to signal, ...) - Tweeting like a maniac does actually work, but so does a quality over quantity approach - Post threads on Saturdays when people are more likely to read longform content. During the week people only save them somewhere (e.g. Instapaper) which is bad if you want to go viral - Repost your evergreen content every few months. Ideally you tweak the hook and change the content a bit - The algorithm shows your tweets only to a fraction of your followers and you'll always have new followers who haven't seen it - The most valuable growth is driven off of your thoughts and real earned insight-driven thoughts - Send cold DMs to big accounts - Engaged Friends - 2 way engagement & follow back - Engaged Followers - they engage with you - Active Followers - friends + engaged followers - Total Followers - on your profile - Momentum - Defines your reach - Momentum = Active followers + profile activity level + virality rate + profile engagement - How Twitter evaluates activity - Engage with other accounts? Often? Daily? - Post daily? - How many days have you been active in the past 28? - Virality and engagement - Do you create content so interesting and engaging it goes viral? (20x Follower count in impressions) - Tweet Reach = Momentum + Engagement + Share share - On Twitter, virality is all about the shares: RTs and quote RTs - Both Momentum and Engagement are necessary to have reach - Write threads - Threads are the #1 way to grow faster - Going from 0 -> 2/3K followers is the hardest part - Engage - Engage - Engage - Create threads - Going from 2 -> 10K can be as simple as a few great threads - Going from 10K -> 100K requires a combo - Targeted engagement to build RT relationships - More threads - Using keywords to focus on trending topics
