# Vault Changelog plugin for Obsidian
Vault Changelog is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin maintained by Mark Ayers (it was originally created by Badr Bouslikhin). It writes a note that lists your recently edited notes. Since the result is a regular note, it's searchable, linkable, and visible on mobile.
Each line looks like `- 2025-01-28T1430 ยท [[Note Title]]`. Run `Vault Changelog: Update Changelog` when you need it, or turn on "Auto update" (off by default) to update it on every edit, rename or delete. You choose the path of the changelog note, the number of entries, whether entries are wikilinks, and an optional heading.
Embed the changelog in your home note and you see "what did I touch yesterday?" at a glance, even on [[Obsidian Publish]].
Two caveats:
- It overwrites the changelog note on every update, so use a dedicated file
- With auto-update on, every edit you make triggers a write to that note. That means extra sync traffic ([[Syncthing]], [[Obsidian Sync]], [[Git]]), so exclude that file from your Git diffs if you can
