# VaultDex plugin for Obsidian VaultDex is an [[Obsidian]] community plugin by Reggie86 that gives you a retro, Google-style results page with relevance scores and a [[PARA method|PARA]] filter. Fun, but weaker than [[Omnisearch plugin for Obsidian|Omnisearch]] or [[Sift plugin for Obsidian|Sift]]. Open it from its ribbon icon (an eye) or the `Open VaultDex search` command. Matches in the title, tags, headings and body are weighted, and results show highlighted snippets and breadcrumbs. It supports phrase and AND operators, `FolderName:search terms` scopes a search to a folder, and you can sort by relevance or by newest. There's even an "I'm Feeling Lucky" button that opens a random note. Its folder filter assumes your top folders follow PARA naming (Projects, Areas, Resources, Archives), so it's less useful if your vault is organized differently. It hasn't been manually reviewed by Obsidian staff yet. ## References - Source code: https://github.com/reggie86/vaultdex - Community plugin page: https://obsidian.md/plugins?id=vaultdex ## Related - [[The Complete Guide to Obsidian Search - Find Any Note When You Need It (Article)]] - [[The Best Obsidian Plugins for Finding Notes (Article)]] - [[PARA method]] - [[Omnisearch plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Sift plugin for Obsidian]] - [[Doomscroll plugin for Obsidian]]
