# DeveloPassion's Newsletter 167 - Setbacks ## Welcome Another week, another newsletter! I hope that you all had a great one 🤩 This week, I've made great progress on the [Knowledge Management course](https://knowledge-management-for-beginners.com/). I've finished preparing the second module and am now busy scripting the third one. I can't wait to deliver it! I attended a very interesting workshop here in Belgium, by [Jean-Charles de la Faille](https://jeancharlesdellafaille.com/). I [shared the core ideas here](https://x.com/dSebastien/status/1793541151318020513), and I will later leverage those to improve the "Clarity" section of the [Knowledge Worker Kit](https://www.store.dsebastien.net//product/knowledge-worker-kit). Please consider becoming a paid subscriber. It's THE ONE WAY to support my work and help me be free to help you all day ❤️ ## The lab **🧪** It's been an interesting week. The last promo offer did quite well, and you are now 12 paid subscribers. It's not life changing yet, but I like to celebrate all my progress, no matter how small ;-) ![[image-5.png|Right-click card menu to swap chart type and pick a scale preset like 0-5, 0-10 or 0-100]] On the development side, I've improved the [Dataview Serializer plugin](https://github.com/dsebastien/obsidian-dataview-serializer) for Obsidian. It now uses HTML comments instead of Markdown comments. I've also proposed the plugin, and am now waiting for feedback on the [Pull Request](https://github.com/obsidianmd/obsidian-releases/pull/3567). Meanwhile, my "Update Time" plugin has been accepted: > The "Update Time" plugin for [@obsdmd](https://x.com/obsdmd?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) is now available in the list of community plugins ❤️ > > It automatically adds the creation date of your notes as a property. It also automatically adds and updates the update date of your notes. > > Click here to install it: [https://t.co/prZMEI3Ra2](https://t.co/prZMEI3Ra2) > — Sébastien Dubois (@dSebastien) [May 22, 2024](https://x.com/dSebastien/status/1793368403253874970?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) I've started using GPT4o to extract text and quotes from images. It works surprisingly well. It made me think about creating an Obsidian plugin to do just that. ## New articles I've published an article discussing the gradual ROI of Personal Knowledge Management. PKM requires reaching a critical mass of notes before the value it provides compounds: [The Gradual Return On Investment of PKM](https://www.dsebastien.net/the-gradual-return-on-investment-of-pkm//) ## New published notes I've published many more notes this week: [Recently added - DeveloPassion](https://notes.dsebastien.net/50+Resources/56+Obsidian+Publish/Recently+added) The graph view is becoming scary: ![[image-7.png|Visualization presets mapping property names to default chart types, so energy_level_evening auto-renders as a bar chart]] There's a ton of notes about note-taking and PKM in there. Hopefully, this will prove valuable over time. ## Note of the week ![[image-8.png|Daily note property editor showing a Sleep Quality slider at 1 of 13 with 77% completion progress]] ## Quotes of the week - Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value — Albert Einstein - Formal education will make you a living. Self-education will make you a fortune ## Thinking and learning Should we forget about book summaries? I think so too, unless if you want to share those to help others grow: [Forget Book Summaries: This Note-Taking Method Will Change How You Read Books](https://evchapman.medium.com/forget-book-summaries-this-note-taking-method-will-change-how-you-read-books-45251681fff8) Real-time video translation and captioning. Cool!
