# André Aciman
André Aciman (born January 2, 1951) is an Italian-American writer and distinguished professor of comparative literature at the CUNY Graduate Center. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, to Sephardic Jewish parents, he emigrated to the United States in 1968. He is best known for his novel "Call Me by Your Name" (2007), which won the Lambda Literary Award and was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film. His other notable works include the memoir "Out of Egypt" (1995), "Eight White Nights" (2010), and "Enigma Variations" (2017). Aciman holds degrees from Lehman College and Harvard University and has taught at Princeton University, New York University, and Bard College. He specializes in the history of literary theory and the works of Marcel Proust.
