# Brendan Burns
Brendan Burns is a software engineer and one of the three co-creators of [[Kubernetes]] at Google, alongside [[Joe Beda]] and Craig McLuckie. He was instrumental in designing Kubernetes' architecture and bringing container orchestration to the mainstream.
After leaving Google, Burns joined Microsoft as a Corporate Vice President, where he leads Azure Container Services. He helped build Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and has been a driving force behind Microsoft's embrace of open-source and cloud-native technologies. He remains active in the [[Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)]] community.
Burns is also an author, having written "Kubernetes: Up and Running" and "Designing Distributed Systems"—both widely used resources for learning cloud-native development.
