# Cynthia Breazeal
Cynthia Breazeal is a professor at the MIT Media Lab and a pioneer of social robotics and human-robot interaction. She is the founding director of the Personal Robots Group and MIT's Dean for Digital Learning, leading MIT RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education).
She is best known for Kismet, one of the first robots designed for expressive social interaction, and later founded Jibo, a consumer social robot startup. Her research focuses on AI that collaborates with people in the physical world, and on AI literacy — preparing students and teachers for a world shaped by AI.
She holds a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
