# Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert (born July 18, 1969) is an American journalist and author. She is best known for her 2006 memoir "Eat, Pray, Love," which has sold over 30 million copies and has been translated into over 30 languages. The book was also made into a film of the same name in 2010 starring Julia Roberts.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Gilbert grew up on a small family Christmas tree farm. She attended New York University, where she studied political science by day and worked on her short stories by night. After college, she spent several years traveling around the country, working in bars, diners and ranches, collecting experiences to transform into fiction.
Gilbert has written ten books, including novels like "The Signature of All Things" (2013) and "City of Girls" (2019), as well as non-fiction works like "Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear" (2015). She is also known for her journalism work, having written for publications such as Spin, GQ, and The New York Times Magazine.
