# Jakub Pachocki ![[50 Resources/51 Attachments/51.03 Public/2026-05-04 Jakub Pachocki.jpg|400]] Jakub Pachocki is Chief Scientist at [[OpenAI]], succeeding Ilya Sutskever. He has led or co-led several of OpenAI's most important research directions, including large-scale pretraining and the reasoning models (o-series). A Polish computer scientist, Pachocki is an International Olympiad in Informatics and ACM ICPC medalist, and holds a PhD in theoretical computer science from Carnegie Mellon University, where he worked on graph algorithms and numerical linear algebra.
