# Lennart Poettering

German software engineer, known as the creator of [[systemd]], [[PulseAudio]], and Avahi. He worked at Red Hat from 2007 to 2024, where he led the development of systemd, which became the default init system for most major [[Linux]] distributions. In 2024, he joined Microsoft to continue working on systemd. He is also the creator of PipeWire's predecessor PulseAudio, and has been a prominent and sometimes controversial figure in the Linux community due to the sweeping changes systemd introduced.
