# Leonardo Da Vinci ![[50 Resources/51 Attachments/51.03 Public/2025-08-22_Leonardo_Da_Vinci.jpg|400]] Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (1452-1519) was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who was active as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect. Born out of wedlock in Vinci, Republic of Florence, Leonardo is widely regarded as one of the greatest painters in the history of Western art and epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. He is famous for iconic works such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, as well as his extensive notebooks containing drawings and observations on anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography, and engineering. Leonardo conceptualized flying machines, armoured vehicles, and many other inventions centuries ahead of his time.
