# Nat Friedman

Nat Friedman is an American technology entrepreneur, investor, and the former CEO of GitHub (2018–2021), where he led the platform through Microsoft's acquisition and the launch of GitHub Copilot. In 2025 he joined Meta to co-lead its new Superintelligence Lab alongside [[Alexandr Wang]].
Before GitHub, he co-founded Ximian (acquired by Novell) and Xamarin (acquired by Microsoft), both significant plays in open-source and cross-platform developer tooling.
With Daniel Gross he runs AI Grant, a funding program for AI startups, and has been an influential angel investor and public voice on open source, AI, and the Vesuvius Challenge.
