Tim Brown (born 1962) is a British designer and writer who served as CEO and chair of IDEO, the influential design consultancy co-founded by [[Bill Moggridge]]. He is one of the foremost advocates for [[Design Thinking]]—a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate human needs, technology possibilities, and business requirements. His 2009 book *Change by Design* and his TED talks have popularized design thinking in business and education worldwide.
Brown studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art and joined IDEO (then David Kelley Design) in 1987. Under his leadership, IDEO expanded beyond product design into service design, organizational design, and design strategy. He championed the idea that design thinking is not just for designers but can be applied by anyone to solve complex problems. His work has influenced how organizations from healthcare to government approach innovation, emphasizing empathy, prototyping, and iteration.
